Campus Life

Expand your world and build connections

IU Southeast is a place where you can simultaneously explore interests, community, and experiences. Our campus boasts over 100 student clubs and organizations — encompassing everything from special interests to professional networks.

Whether your thing is Greek letters or Japanese pop culture, we’ve got you covered. We’ve also got it literally covered via The Horizon, our student newspaper, a favorite activity among journalism majors.

If we don’t have the club or organization you want to join on the list, don’t worry! You can start it when you become a Grenadier.

Living on Campus

Your home away from home

Repeatedly, our students cite our residence halls as the best dorms they toured—but it’s hard to call them dorms. They’re fully-furnished apartments with kitchens, 24-hour security, free on-site laundry, and parking. Plus, the showers aren’t communal. Need we say more?

98% of 2018 graduates surveyed said they felt safe in campus buildings.

IU Southeast was named #1 on Niche’s 2017 Best College Dorms list.

Apartments, not dorms

Each apartment has its own fully equipped kitchen, living area, and bathroom, as well as bedrooms and individual closets.

Other amenities include the following:

  • Apartments are fully carpeted and furnished with temperature controls.
  • Apartments feature high-speed internet access and cable TV.
  • Each student is provided with a bed, mattress, dresser, closet, chair, and desk.
  • Students can request a one, two, or four- bedroom apartment.
  • More importantly, students have countless opportunities to develop lasting friendships and participate in the many social, educational, and recreational activities on campus.

Spread your wings

If you can’t find what you’re looking for on campus, you won’t need to travel far. IU Southeast is seated right where country roads collide with city lights. Go 6 miles south to explore Louisville—home to a vibrant arts scene, KFC Yum! Center, a professional soccer club, and USA Today’s No. 2 ranked minor league ballpark, Slugger Field.

Want to get away from the hustle and bustle? Explore the natural beauty of southern Indiana. Just 10 miles from campus, you can take in one of Indiana’s most impressive natural wonders, Falls of the Ohio State Park. Or, travel 10 miles north of campus to hike Knobstone Trail, Indiana’s longest hiking trail.
