Homecoming has moved to the fall!

Peanut butter and jelly. Jim and Pam. Homecoming and fall.

Some things are just meant to go together.

In that vein, IU Southeast is permanently moving Homecoming activities to November.

“Ice storms, snow, cold weather, the last basketball games of the season,” said Director of Alumni Engagement J.T. Douglas. “Homecoming in February just didn’t feel like Homecoming. So we moved it.”

Homecoming will run from Nov. 2-5, culminating with the men’s and women’s basketball games on Saturday, Nov. 5.

The slate of events include IU Southeast Homecoming traditions such as the Nearly Naked Mile run for Riley Children’s Hospital and the King of the Court student vs. staff basketball game.

The move to fall also brings in new activities such as the Ignite the Night! bonfire Friday, Nov. 4. Students and alumni will have the opportunity to come together to celebrate the past and present of all things IU Southeast.

Also new this year is a performance by Throwback Time Machine on Thursday, Nov. 3. The DJ and hosts blend original video, a huge dose of on-stage audience interaction, dance-offs, stage-props galore and the impromptu communal karaoke.

IU Southeast is also hosting a Distinguished Alumni Award Reception on Nov. 4 to honor Joey Rivera ‘93 for his outstanding contributions to the community and to IU Southeast. The reception is open to all IU Southeast alumni. RSVP by calling 812-941-2417.
