IU Southeast Means Business
The School of Business at IU Southeast is recognized for maintaining a high level of academic rigor and graduate success in both undergraduate and graduate programs. The School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International and only eight percent of business schools worldwide achieve this status. IU Southeast students consistently score in the top 10-15% of the national ETS major field test exams. The School of Business has also been named a “Best Business School” by the Princeton Review every year since 2007.
“We offer a top quality degree program that is very flexible,” said David Eplion, Ph.D., and dean of the School of Business. “Our time to completion is among the quickest in the area, much quicker than other schools, but without sacrificing quality of instruction. Our business programs are also a tremendous value because they are very affordable. In some cases, our tuition is less than half the cost of other AACSB schools in the region.”

What’s New at the Business School? A Renewed Focus on Streamlining the Process
Always striving for excellence, IU Southeast faculty and staff constantly refine and adapt business programs to meet the changing needs of both students and employers. Recently, the basic MBA course content was streamlined from 38 to 30 credit hours for completion. Most students can finish the MBA program in 15 months.
For the first time, we are offering five concentrations in our MBA program – accounting, human resources management, management, finance, and business data analytics,” said Eplion. “Students can add these concentrations to their basic MBA with an additional six to nine credit hours. We also continue to offer eight-week classes to accelerate completion time. Another area we have streamlined is the dual degree program. Our most popular combination is an MBA paired with a master’s in strategic finance and now the credit hours for this dual degree have been reduced from 56 to 48.”
The MBA Your Way
Courses are offered in several formats – in-person, online, and hybrid variations. Students can set their own pace with their schedule, whether they want to complete the degree as fast as possible or take classes around their work or family schedule. The majority of graduate courses are taught at the IU Southeast Graduate Center, located in Jeffersonville, Ind., a convenient drive across the Second Street Bridge in downtown Louisville.
Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) scores and application fees are waived until at least July 1,2023. Once a student applies, they can typically start classes within a month or eight weeks.
“We discovered a barrier holding people back from getting a master’s was the time it took to complete the foundations courses,” said Eplion. “At some schools it takes over a year. We’ve designed our quick start foundations courses to be completed in one semester and all online. We restructured without compromising the integrity. It's still a challenging, rigorous program and graduates are able to apply that knowledge and continue on with their career advancement in short order.”
Employers Give IU Southeast High Marks
The addition of MBA concentrations is attractive to many employers and feedback has been positive.
“Employers report a high degree of satisfaction with IU Southeast graduates,” said Eplion. “They like that we’re at the forefront of teaching the skills needed for modern business like analytics. Another unique aspect of our program is the community service component. Students complete a service project that involves business expertise. We calculate that our students have logged over 15,000 hours of service to the regional community. Employers know that students are not just coming here and earning a piece of paper, they are actually mastering material that they can use and apply to their jobs.”
